The University of Newcastle Medical Society, which is commonly known as ‘Medsoc’, is one of, if not the largest student-run organisation at the University of Newcastle. Medsoc is part of a nation-wide organisation called AMSA (the Australian Medical Students Association), which is committed to student representation in not only individual Med schools around Australia, but on a national level in parliament and the media. Medsoc is committed to making your experience at Newcastle Med a fantastic one, with a focus on Representation, Support and Fun – all of which are necessary tools to survive the busy life of a medical student! There are a number of changes Medsoc is undergoing in 2008 to make sure that we are not only organising great social functions but having a focus on student support and representation.
