So what is the Cutters Club exactly?
The Cutters Club is a surgical interest group for all the medical students that just can’t wait until their 3rd or 4th post-graduate year to be involved with surgery.
Members of The Cutters Club are invited to attend many exciting events. There are information evenings and talks by various surgeons about the different surgical specialties available, as well as talks by established female surgeons that serve to inspire and encourage women to enter this field. There is always an emphasis on lifestyle so that Cutters Club members get a better understanding of the work/life balance of a surgeon.
There are also a number of activities that run throughout the year, including tours through a Sterilisation Unit of a hospital and many more! These activities ensure that many different aspects of surgery are explored and that your interest in surgery keeps growing.
We are also very fortunate at The Cutters Club to work closely with Professor Stephen Deane, former Vice-President of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, who regularly attends our meetings.
So do not hesitate, my fellow budding surgeons, join up and be a part of this interesting and fun surgical club!
